Add Supervising Provider to ePrescription

eRx enrolled prescribers has the option to submit ePrescriptions with a Supervising Provider. This helps alleviate rejected prescriptions from pharmacies requiring the Supervising Provider name to be in the electronic file instead of the pharmacy notes.

Regulations for Supervising Provider submission through ePrescription varies by state. Review laws specific to the provider's state for more details.

Enable Supervising Provider

The following steps must be completed for any prescriber who requires a supervising provider to be submitted with their ePrescription.

  1. Hover over the User icon and click on Practice Settings. The Practice Settings page opens.
  2. Click User Settings. The User Settings page opens.
  3. Click Edit User next to the provider's name. The Edit page opens.
  4. Click to select "Enable Supervising Provider for Prescribing".
    Note: The provider must be enrolled for eRx for this option to be available.
  5. Click Save. The option to select a Supervising Provider on a prescription is now available.

ePrescription: Select Supervising Provider

Only active providers who are eRx enrolled populates in the drop-down list. EPCS enrollment is not required for supervising providers.

  1. Prescribe a medication for the patient.
  2. Select a Supervising Provider from the drop-down.
  3. If applicable, select a pharmacy and/or provide the Rx Saver Coupon to the patient.
  4. Click Send Medication. The New Prescription (Preview) pop-up window opens.

  1. Verify the prescription details.
  2. Click Confirm to send the prescription with the Supervising Provider to the pharmacy.

View Submitted Supervising Provider

  1. Enter the first 2–3 letters of the patient's name or date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy) in the top navigation bar search box.
  2. Click to select the patient from the auto-populated results. The patient's Facesheet page opens.
  3. Click Medications. The Active Medications page opens.
  4. Click on the prescribed medication with a Supervising Provider. The ePrescription pop-up window opens.
  5. The prescriber and supervising provider displays with details of the prescribed medication.
