Navigate AI Message Tagging

Updated: 06/29/2026|Views: 38

The Message Center's AI Message Tagging feature reduces the mental load of a busy inbox by applying up to three categorical tags to patient and staff messages across SMS, email, and the portal. With message topics instantly visible, practices can review and act faster, reducing administrative strain and restoring focus to patient care. System Administrators can enable AI Message Tagging for the practice to start tagging new incoming and sent messages.

Note: This feature is only available for Application to Person (A2P) approved practices. For more information about AI Message Tagging, review the AI Message Tagging FAQs.

To learn how to access AI Message Tagging in the web platform, review Navigate AI Message Tagging.

AI Message Tagging includes the following categorical tags: Scheduling, Billing, Prescriptions, Patient Records, Encounters, Diagnostics, Supplies, Symptoms, Compliance, and Admin. For tag definitions and example key phrases and keywords used to determine which tags are applicable to a message, review AI Message Tagging: Tag Definition.

  1. Tags Filter: By default, all tags display. To view messages for specific tags, click the Tags drop-down arrow and select the tag(s). If multiple tags are selected, the results will show messages matching any or all selected tags.
  2. AI Tags: Up to three tags are associated with a message. For more information on how AI determines which tags are applicable to the message, review AI Message Tagging: Tag Definition.
  3. Remove Tag: If a message was tagged incorrectly, click X to remove the tag from the message (for all users in the practice). The Update Tags for This Message confirmation pop-up opens then click Confirm. The tag is removed.
Note: If the tag was added by AI and is removed by a user, the tag cannot be added to the message again by AI for 90 days. The tag can be manually added to the message as applicable.
    • To disable the confirmation pop-up when removing tags, click to select “Don’t show me this message again".
  4. Add Tag: If applicable, click + Tag to manually add a tag to the message that displays (for all users in the practice). Click to select a tag from the drop-down menu then the Update Tags for This Message confirmation pop-up opens then click Confirm. The tag is added.
Note: The option to add a tag is only available when the message has less than three tags.
    • To disable the confirmation pop-up when adding tags, click to select “Don’t show me this message again".
