Importance of Google My Business

Updated: 06/22/2023|Views: 342

A Google My Business page is what shows up on the right-hand side of a Google search. Google owns this listing and chooses when to show it in a search, but allows business owners to claim the page and take charge of what is shown on the listing.

This listing includes important business information that a patient might need to know, including your address, phone number, website, and business photos. It may also include new Google posts, categories that your practice falls under, a menu of services, and/or attributes that make your practice stand out above the rest.

These Google Business listings are also what is shown in a search for local businesses on Google Maps. Claiming this page, having the correct details, beautiful photos, and great reviews will all help to improve your click-through rate and will ultimately help you to acquire new patients.

Is it important for me to claim my Google My Business listing?

It is incredibly important to claim your Google My Business page not only for Search Engine Optimization but also to improve your current (and future!) patients’ user experience. Taking control of your Google My Business page consists of a few different steps:

  • Claiming your page and providing verification
  • Ensuring all business details are up to date
  • Having correct NAP details (Name, Address, Phone Number)
  • Checking that all business photos are accurate and current
  • Choosing categories that both match your business and help answer patient searches
  • Taking charge of responding to both negative and positive reviews

Ensuring that all details are correct will help to improve your search engine rankings and will help with user experience. When a patient finds a practice on Google that has an incorrect phone number and address, they will quickly move onto the next listing. At Practice Growth, we want to ensure that this doesn’t happen.

We will help claim your Google My Business listing and help to optimize it to Google’s standards, as well as add photos and business information to improve the user experience. Although we can’t guarantee an instant boost in local search rankings, we can ensure that following all Google’s guidelines will help to improve your practice’s local ranking on Google and enhance your presence in search and maps.
